  • Mauna Lani Beach Club - Exclusive access - Located on Maka’iwa Bay at the Southern end of the Mauna Lani area. The beach itself features soft, white sand that's perfect for sunbathing and building sandcastles. The calm waters in the cove are ideal for swimming and experiencing the excellent snorkeling the area has to offer. The beach club provides ample parking, beach chairs, showers, restroom facilities, and dining at Napua.
  • 49 Black Sand Beach - Public beach - This beach features soft black sand, calm rolling waves, and beautiful clear water. There is plenty of coral reef around providing for fantastic snorkeling conditions. The beach also has restroom facilities and showers. 
  • Hapuna Beach State Recreational Park- Public beach - This is the island's largest white sand beach. The clear water is perfect for a swim or bodyboarding and the long beach allows for a beautiful walk. The beach also has restroom facilities and showers. There is an entry fee of $10/car and $5/person payable at the machine by credit card.
  • Manini'owali Beach (Kua Bay) - Public Beach - This secluded white sand beach is a bit more difficult to get down to, but provides beautiful clear water and rolling waves. The waves can become sizeable and are great for bodyboarding.

Activities

  • Snorkeling - The Big Island has plenty of opportunities for snorkeling. Stop by the Mauna Lani Beach club or 49 Black Sand Beach for excellent snorkeling nearby, or venture further to Two Step located in Honaunau Bay, for possible turtles and plenty of tropical fish.
  • Manta Rays - If you enjoy snorkeling take it to the next level and swim with the Manta Rays at night through an organized tour. It is truly a once in a lifetime experience.
  • Golfing - Mauna Lani is surrounded by world class golf courses. The Auberge has a North and South course which surround the resort area and have amazing views. The South course was home to the PGA’s Senior Skins game between 1990 and 2000. They also have a pitch n' putt course (Wikiwiki course) which is perfect to warm up the skills or take the whole family.
  • Watch the sunset - Take in the beautiful sunset from one of the many beaches. 
  • Take a walk - The Mauna Lani Resort is a beautiful space to take a walk. Head down to the historic Mauna Lani Fishponds located east of the Mauna Lani Beach Club and walk the trails. You can also head over to Kalahuipia'a Histroical Park and walk the 1 mile of paved paths where you will see petroglyphs and lava tubes. You can access this trail from the fishponds or take Pauoa Road and get to the trailhead parking lot.
  • Pololu Valley - Just under an hour away is the Pololu valley. This area has spectacular views of the valley and steep cliffs. If you are up for it there is a steep half mile hike to the ocean floor and black sand beach.
  • Kona coffee - The big Island is home to the world renowned Kona coffee. There are plenty of tours available (free or paid) which allow you to tour the facilities and learn how coffee gets from the berry to your morning cup.
  • Hilo - Take a day trip to the other side of the island and visit Hilo. Over here you will find plenty of beautiful water falls including Rainbow Falls, 'Akaka Falls, Pe'epe'e Falls, and Umauma Falls. 
  • Stargazing – Mauna Kea is home to one of the best telescopes in the world. Head up the mountain for a beautiful stargazing experience, note that some areas do require off road vehicles or tours. Or simply turn off all the lights in the home and take a look up. The clear dark skies provide for amazing stargazing.
  • Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - This UNESCO world heritage site has hiking trails, views of the craters, lava tubes, and sometime views of lava. On your drive over stop by Punalu'u Black Sand Baech and Papakolea Green Sand Beach, one of only four green sand beaches in the world!
  • Luau - Take in a Luau to experience the Hawaiian culture and food first hand.
